ChatGPT Outpaces Microsoft Copilot in Enterprise Adoption as OpenAI Rivalry Heats Up

Corporate America is choosing sides in the AI arms race. Biopharmaceutical leader Amgen has replaced Microsoft's Copilot with ChatGPT for most workflows, marking a significant shift in enterprise AI preferences. The MOVE affects 20,000 employees and follows a year-long evaluation that revealed clear user preference for OpenAI's consumer-friendly interface.

The transition highlights growing tensions between Microsoft and its $13 billion partner OpenAI. While Copilot maintains integration with Microsoft's productivity suite, ChatGPT's standalone capabilities are proving more effective for research, summarization, and daily tasks. "Employees voted with their keyboards," said Amgen SVP Sean Bruich, noting the organic adoption patterns that drove the change.

ChatGPT now processes over a billion daily queries, fundamentally altering workplace search behavior.
